Be Silly or Bust

I have often thought about writing a blog. Not because I have anything important to say or my life is that interesting. I do think having someone out there you can relate to can help put your life into perspective! With that in mind, I decided to create my blog and write about my life as a mom and wife. I have titled this blog "Diary of a Silly Mom" because of a moment I had with my son last week.

In the middle of the day last week my 5 yr. old son was begging for a snack. I told him he did not need to eat anything else. He had lunch, a piece of valentines candy and I told him that dinner was not too far away. He was not happy with my answer and told me he was starving. I told him "you won't die, you've had plenty to eat today" to which he slumped down and started to pout. He said "I will die if I don't get a snack!". I said well if that's the case then could I get a handshake or something before you die. He walked over and shook my hand before leaving the kitchen upset. I told him "it's been nice knowing you! I'm glad I was your mommy!" He stomped away... I chuckled to myself and gave him a few minutes to cool down. I went upstairs and found him in his room. I was surprised to see him sitting on his bed instead of pretending to be "dead". I came in, sat down next to him, threw my arms around him and announced "I'm so glad you're not dead!!" He smiled and we laughed together. We went about our day and he never mentioned having a snack the rest of the day.

Through this whole interaction I decided in order for me to make it through my days as a stay at home mom I must learn to be silly and go with the flow. If I take life too seriously and miss these opportunities to be a silly mom I will end up frazzled and then no one is happy!
